Closing the Bakery

Last night we had a staff meeting with our employees to tell them that our bakery will be closing next month. We have been dreading this for the past six months or so. Our employees are like family to us, and we hate to leave them jobless in this bad economy where employment is so scarce. But for those who know the whole situation, of all the options we had, closing our business was the only logical one, and fortunately our employees were very understanding.

We're missing one employee in this picture.

Our last day open will be October 19th--exactly four weeks from today. The end of the October we will take a quick trip to Utah to visit family and to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. Then it's back to work. I will continue working as a leasing consultant here in Everett, and Chris has agreed to help a new Great Harvest owner open his store in Olympia which they are planning to open the beginning of November. Chris has agreed to a three month trial period managing this new store, and then we will decide whether to stay in Everett or move to Olympia.

We're full of mixed emotions. It'll be a huge relief to not have to stress about everything, but so sad to not see our regular customers and employees every day. I just keep telling myself that it is a new chapter in our life, and that we will enjoy new experiences and opportunities with this change.

That certainly wouldn't be an easy thing to have to tell your co-workers but I'm positive they know what hard working and caring people you are and that if there had been any other way...

I hope this next chapter of your lives brings fantastic experiences. Love you!!

Sorry you have to close your store AND tell the employees that---I can't imagine how hard that would be! Guess that just means your moving on to bigger and better things-I'm sure of it! Of course, this is always a great opportunity to move to EAGLE MOUNTAIN! :o)

Wow...so sorry it's worked out this way. You guys are such hard workers, I'm sure great things lay in store. I bet you made such an impact on your employees - I'm sure they learned SO much from you and your cute fam (I know, proud sis/aunt!). When are you for sure coming to town? Want to make sure I keep it WIDE open :)

Miss and love you!
